WELCOME TO SUNNY ZONE PSYCHOLOGY

Empowering you to thrive in the light

My name is Harriet Persse; I’m a Registered Psychologist and I work with people of all ages.

My clients include kids as young as 8, their families, adolescents and adults.

My work is fuelled by a lifelong curiosity for psychology and asking questions.

This is partly thanks to my upbringing, growing up in regional Australia on a hobby farm. This has given me a broad understanding of how we experience ourselves, our world, and our mental health.

My practice is grounded in evidence-based techniques from my six years of training and continued fuel for learning. I employ research-based strategies and interventions to help you meet your therapeutic goals. I am trained in several modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, DNA-V, and family systems, and I integrate these into my practice.

My strongest values are compassion and adventure. I try to instil this in my work by creating a safe, strength-based approach for my clients while sparking creativity and humour where appropriate.

I’ve worked in various settings, including hospitals, community health settings, crisis support, and private practice. During our first session, I try to remind you that we are complex creatures, and what might have worked for one person may not work for another, which is completely okay.

Before psychology, I worked in Public Relations across agencies in Sydney and London for 10 years.

Outside of psychology, I love the outdoors. I am a novice ocean swimmer, runner, tea drinker, music listener and keen napper – all of life’s most important things.

Sunny Zone Psychology origins

Why name my practice Sunny Zone Psychology and not just my name?

Well, there are a couple of reasons for this.

Did you know the first 200m of the ocean where the sunlight touches is known as the sunlight zone? This is where the vibrant animals and plants thrive, utilising the sun to grow. What better way to describe the human psyche than tapping into what is just underneath the surface?

The second reason is more personal. My dear friend Phoebe passed away suddenly in February 2024. Ever since her passing, we have remembered her presence as sunshine – bright, yellow and warm. My company’s name and website colours honour her and her steady belief in my work as a psychologist. I mention this so you realise that just like you, I have borne the weight of struggles in life, too.

Through our work together, I hope I can empower you to thrive in the light.
